How to Roll a Joint with a Joint Buddy

Rolling a joint doesn’t have to be frustrating. Whether you’re new to rolling or just tired of uneven burns and loose rolls, the Joint Buddy makes the process easier, faster, and more consistent

This step-by-step guide will show you how to roll a joint using a Joint Buddy and a standard cigarette roller so you can roll smooth, even joints with confidence

What you'll need to roll a joint

Before you start, gather the following:

  • Ground flower
  • Rolling paper
  • A standard cigarette roller
  • Filter tip
  • Joint Buddy

The Joint Buddy is designed to work seamlessly with most conventional rollers, helping hold the shape of what you’re rolling so everything stays perfectly even.

step 1

Grind your flower

Use a grinder to break down your flower to a medium-fine consistency. Even grinding helps ensure a smooth burn and clean draw.

Tip: Allow your flower to breath for a minute or two before rolling with it

Step 2

Insert the Joint Buddy into Your Roller

Open your roller and place the Joint Buddy into it. Your Joint Buddy comes apart in two pieces. With your roller aligned to roll towards you, place the smaller piece on the left and larger piece on the right, with the magnetic end pointed out for both.

The Joint Buddy acts as a form, creating a consistent cylindrical shape from end to end. This is the key step that eliminates tapering, loose spots, and uneven joints.

Tip: The Joint Buddy will work with most rollers, but our custom roller makes it even easier with clear guides on how to align your buddy

step 3

Add Your Flower

Pack your flower evenly inside the roller between either end of the Joint Buddy. Press down gently to get an even distribution. It should be even with the buddy.

Close your roller and give it a few rolls.

Step 4

Add filter tip

With the roller still closed, roll one half of a filter tip around the larger, base part of your buddy. Save the other half of your tip for the end.

step 5

Add your paper

With the roller still closed, insert your rolling paper (gum edge facing you), and continue rolling until the paper wraps around.

Just before it's completely in there, lick the gum line and finish rolling the paper in..

Step 6

Remove Joint Buddy tip

Take your joint out of the roller. You should have a perfectly even, cylindrical joint.

Now, to remove the Joint Buddy, simply grad the smaller, tip side of the buddy and slide it out of the paper. You will have just the right amount of paper to twist up the end so none of your flower falls out.

step 7

Extract Joint Buddy Base

Use the Joint Buddy tip to extract the base piece from the filter side. A 1/4 twist clockwise followed by a full twist counter-clockwise while pulling out should do it. Just make sure the filter stays in place.

Step 8

Add filter crutch

Accordion fold the second half of your filter tip and insert it into the filter side of the joint.

Enjoy!

You now have a perfect joint. If it feels loose at all, add more flower next time. Your joint should be perfectly cylindrical and taut. Now spark it up and enjoy it!
